Want to make sure your Pokémon cards arrive in perfect condition? Here’s how to ship Pokémon cards safely using simple materials.
1. Use Penny Sleeves and Toploaders (for valuable cards)
For rare, holo, or high-value cards:
Insert the card into a soft penny sleeve (plastic card sleeve).
Then place it into a rigid toploader for extra protection.
You can tape the top shut (gently!) with painter’s tape to stop the card from slipping out.
💡 Tip: Don’t use sticky tape directly on the sleeve — it can leave residue or damage cards when removed.
2. Stack and Wrap Bulk Cards Securely
For commons/uncommons or bulk cards:
Stack cards in groups of ~50–100.
Wrap tightly in cling film or a team bag to stop movement.
Sandwich stacks between two pieces of cardboard and secure with rubber bands or tape.
🛡️ This prevents cards from bending during transit.
3. Choose the Right Packaging
Depending on the size of your order:
1–3 cards: Use a cardboard-backed envelope or rigid mailer.
Small stack (under 100g): Use a Large Letter-sized padded envelope.
Larger trades: Use a small box with bubble wrap or void fill.
Avoid using plain paper envelopes — they offer no protection and can tear easily in sorting machines.
4. Don’t Forget Address and Return Info
Always double check the recipient’s address and consider writing your return address on the back. For higher value trades, choose tracked shipping for peace of mind.
5. Optional: Add a Note
If you’re sending cards as part of a trade-in, it’s helpful to include a note with:
Your name
email used for trade-in
Any extra info (e.g. pay-out preference)
